Final Round Changes 27/2/2010

The final round of one day matches has been impacted by a shortage of venues, brought on by the use of the Ferntree Gully Recreation Reserve for the Knox Festival and other matters outside the FTGDCA's control...

As a result of the Storm Water harvesting infrastructure project at Knox Gardens the match scheduled for Knox Gardens #2 between Knox Gardens and FTG Footballers in Division 6 has now been transferred to Milpera Reserve, Melway 63 F9.

Knox Gardens are the Home Team and are required to provide Stumps, Cones and Afternoon tea, and both teams should be aware that the pavilion WILL NOT be open for the afternoon, so chairs and a table for the scorer's should also be provided - There is a verandah on the Pavilion that will provide shade.

The B3 Fixture has also been compromised with the venues and draw now...

Bayswater vs Johnson Park at Baynes Park, Monbulk - Bayswater is the home team and are required to provide Stumps, Cones, Afternoon Tea and both teams should bring extra balls in case some are lost in the scrub surrounding the playing field

Ferntree Gully vs The Basin at Liberty Reserve, Rowville - Ferntree Gully are the Home team

Rowville have advised they will be forfeiting their match this weekend to St. Johns/Tecoma and Monbulk has the Bye.

Good luck to all teams and sorry for the late notice...and if you have any concerns with the above don't hesitate to contact me directly

Cheers

Fixtures for remaining Rounds

All fixtures for the remainder of the season have been added to MyCricket. In some cases venues and Home Team responsibility has been changed to accomodate the venue shortage. All clubs should check their matches before relying on existing printed or previously published fictures and venues.

With the loss of Ferntree Gully #1 & #2 for the Knox Festival and the unavailability of Talaskia and Belgrave, I have scheduled all remaining matches (except B3 for the final Weekend) of the H & A Rounds. The B3 Fixture for Round 17 will be published as soon as a venue availability for the final round is acertained.

Finals Qualifications

A reminder to all clubs seekeing to play or qualify players for the upcoming Final's campaigns...

Players can only qualify for Matches in which a result has been achieved or a win achieved by Forfeit.

Any match designated as a BYE Round or occuring in a round declared ABANDONED by the FTGDCA does not count towards an individuals game count for qualification purposes.

I urge all clubs to review the Qualification Rules of the Association - Rule 1.11

NOTE: Also per Rule 1.10.5 Clearances and Permits are now CLOSED for the season as are Registrations for new players in Knox Tavern Cup and DeCoite Shield.

Fixture & Venue confirmation for Round 10 (Two Day Grades) & Rounds 13 & 14 (One Day Grades)
DIVISION 3: Upwey vs Lysterfield has been relocated from Upwey to Lysterfield's Park Ridge Reserve, because of the delayed return after works at the Upwey Recreation Reserve
NOTE: This is now a Home Game for Lysterfield who will be required to provide stumps & cones and ensure lines are well marked per the pitch marking rules, while both clubs should liaise on the provision of Afternoon Tea for the two weeks...
With the return of venues at Monbulk, Upwey and The Basin it is no longer necessary to Schedule any of the One Day Grades on a Sunday and hence the remaining rounds for the season will be all played in the B1, B2 & B3 Competitions on Saturdays.
On behalf of the FTGDCA I thank the clubs for their patience and perseverance with the Sunday rotations throughout the One Day competitions this season and will be reviewing their need as ground availability issues occur throughout the next few years while the summer grass upgrades occur throughout the municipalities we operate in.
Also I ask that, given the growth in team affiliations over the past few seasons, and the possible continuation of this trend, clubs and committees discuss and consider the prospect of forming a dedicated Sunday competition which will lighten the load on the Saturday venues and allow the association the flexibility it needs when fixturing matches while the grounds are being overhauled. If viable we would ensure that where possible any Sunday matches are scheduled alongside Veterans games, potentially adding to the spectator enjoyment and hopefully club coffers if this competition were to progress... Any feedback either way will be greatfully received.
All rescheduled Matches for the above named rounds have been updated in MyCricket...
Ladders Adjusted

The ladders on mycricket have beeen adjusted for byes and forfiets as per rule 2.1.3

Round 7 Venue Changes
Venues and Fixture changes for Round 7 (2 Day) and Rounds 10 & 11 (One Day) have been modified/updated in MyCricket...
They reflect the ongoing unavailability of Batterham Park #1, unsuitability of Talaskia Reserve (Council Works are being prepared and the surface has deteriorated badly), Works being commenced at Upwey (Main & Thompson Ovals) and continuing at Monbulk and Belgrave
Teams in Division 3 & 5 should take note that their fixtures may have been modified from those originally published and should be checked to ensure Club's direct their teams to the correct venue.
Note also Knox Gardens have withdrawn their B3 One Day Team, thus creating a Bye Round (and 7 Teams) in this competition for the remainder of the season... Teams who obtained the Bye for B3 One Day Fixtures are Monbulk (Rnd 10) & Bayswater (Rnd 11) respectively...
LAte Registrations

25/11/09 - Through MyCricket the FTGDCA Administrators have the capacity to view, via a Standard Report, new Registrations of every player selected for a Match on Saturday/Sunday...

It is evident from instances already identified through these Reports (over 2 dozen) that in some cases NEW players are not being registered within an appropriate timeframe after they have been selected and played in a match for the the previous round.

The FTGDCA Executive, reflecting on the introduction of the MyCricket system and providing some allowance for the clubs to come up to speed with the registration process has until now overlooked these late Registrations.

However, from the commencement of Round 6, the timeframe for these NEW registrations has been set to 48 hours from the date of the match i.e. by Monday 1:00 p.m. for Saturday games, Tuesday 1:00 p.m. for Sunday games. Ideally these NEW players should be registered in MyCricket before a match commences.

Any NEW player who is selected for a team and not registered within 48 hours of the match concluding will be deemed unregistered for that match and ANY MATCH & PERCENTAGE POINTS earned by the club resulting from that match will be FORFEITED.

I refer you to Rule 1.10.9 of the FTGDCA Handbook...

Any discussion on the above can be raised with me directly.

Round 6 Venue Changes

As a result of the continuing unavailability of Batterham Reserve #1 Oval, the commencement of works at Upwey Tecoma - Gillies (or Woodfull!) Oval & Thompson Oval, the unavailability of the two Ovals at W.H. Tew Ferntree Gully Recreation Reserve (5/12 for Carols by Candlelight) and the ongoing availability of Talaskia Reserve it has been necessary to rearrange some fixtured matches for Round 6 of the FTGDCA 2 Day competition...

The following updates should be noted by the respective playing opponents...

Round 6
KTC - St. Johns/Tecoma vs Belgrave at Talaskia Reserve
KTC - The Basin vs Monbulk at Batterham Reserve #2 Oval
DIV 3 - Upper FTG vs Upwey Tecoma at Kings Park #2 Oval
DIV 5 - The Basin vs Johnson Park at Colchester Reserve

These matches and the One Day Grade Matches for Rounds 8 & 9 are updated in MyCricket and it should be checked before determining where your teams are playing this weekend (28/29 Nov) and the following weekend (5/6 Dec).

Round 10 & Round 11 One Day Matches will be updated in MyCricket as soon as it becomes evident what Ground works (scheduled and unscheduled) are confirmed before those weekends

Scorebooks Balancing

Finally - it is still being reported that some matches are concluding without the Scorebooks being checked appropriately and match outcome & winning margins differing when entering scores in MyCricket after the match has concluded. All clubs MUST inform their Captains that it is THEIR responsibility to ensure the Scorebooks concur at the end of the Match.

The Executive will have no issue overturning a match ostensibly won by one team and then reversed when the Scores are actually checked appropriately for entry into MyCricket, if it is determined when the correct balancing of the scores occurs, that they have not actually won or possibly even tied the match! In this past round one example came to light which had one team winning by 5 runs, but when the scores were entered and added up correctly the final margin was 1 run, which could so easily have resulted in a loss, had they not batted on!!!

In short make sure your Scorebooks are correct and add up (Batting & Bowling) or ensure that the respective Captains sit down and work out where any errors are and correct them before entering the Match Details into MyCricket.

Should you have any concerns with the above please contact me directly...

Forfeits

Where a Club has two teams playing in the One Day Grades, it has been noted that the Rule associated with Forfeiting the lowest team can be compromised when its highest team is playing on Sunday and its lowest is not i.e. a Club has a team scheduled to play in a higher One Day Grade on Sunday (e.g. B1) and a lower One Day Grade team on Saturday (e.g. B3) but cannot field its higher Sunday team because of player unavailability.

In this sitation the FTGDCA Executive has determined that the Lowest Grade Forfeit ruling DOES NOT apply and that the club may forfeit its Sunday B1 Team WITHOUT also forfeiting and therefore penalising its scheduled Saturday and lower graded One Day team.

This ruling does not apply where both the clubs One Day teams are scheduled on a given Saturday, in which case the club must still forfeit its lowest team, per the current rules.
A reminder that all forfeits should be notified to opposing clubs by 8:00 P.M. Thursday and failure to do so will result in a fine - per FTGDCA rules.

Any queries on the above should be addressed to me...
Regards,
Steve Flemming
